life is so strange....when PASSION leads ur life..

on the 1st of april 2008, we have had a very dramatic theatre watching at KLPAC...seriously, i never expecting that i'll be there for that kind of purpose....such activity never cross mind,as well my dream! we went there by a very exclusive bus,around 55 of us...at the very first, i was so excited, because;

1st..i never have a chance to go to KLPAC( i don't even know where's KLPAC situated)

2nd..i have no experience of watching such a big play in big place like that.

3nd..the title of the play; 'PASSION',was so impressive....

after we settled the ticketingbusiness, we went into the performance hall. The opening of the play,was very exciting. i was so impressed with the starting..they started the play with a very beautiful steps of dancing.....the first idea that crossed into my mind during that time was, the play must be about the life of a dancer,and they play might occur in couple's life. for the first 15minutes, i still enjoy the play. but what happened to me for the rest 45minutes?i started to feel bored and i started to yawn...very terrible!all of my expectations towards the play were totally gone.....the play was not absolutely what i've been expecting before....huhuhuhuhuhuu....
but,overall.....i think this is a good experience for me because at least i can implement a little bit of knowledge that i've gained during lecture,as for the example stage direction.
so, even i don't really enjoy the show, i still get something with the show....thanks!

FREE MOVIES WATCHING!

hurrmmmm.....watching a movie?no..no..no..it's not me...i have no intention in watching movie. i would rather go out and have a 10 miles of walking,than being seated and watching a movie for more than one hour..huargh!!!i don't know why i don't really like watching movie. but, as for this course, i have to watch movie,not only one, but five movies(wallah,macbeth,pygmillion,a streetcar named desire,as you like it)..such a big challenge for me!fortunately, i did manage to watch all the movies successfully,which i never ever expect. among the movies that we were instructed to watch, 'a streetcar named desire' is the most understandable movie. why?maybe because we have learn about the play before we have a look on it. personally from me, i think the play (a street car named desire) is such a great play. first time read out the play, i dont really get the play, but after a few times of reading, now i am able to talk and make a brief explaination of what actually happened and occured in that play. furthermore, i also would like to give a big thanks to my respective instrustor because arrange this kind of activity, at least we have a chance to watch black and white movies such as wallah and streetcar named desire.

so, before i end up my entry, i would like to say that this movie watching session was an effective session that can increase my understanding towards play.

how my friends evaluate my work..

after having a though and long journey in preparing the lesson for our simulated teaching, finally we have done it!thanks to the Almighty for giving me a strength to finish up my simulated teaching.....but,how my friends evaluate my work? they did evaluate me in the same way how i evaluated them,we have been given the same guideline in evaluating people's work. for me,by doing this type of activity, at least we can acknowledge our weaknesses that maybe we never ever realizes before. as for the example, the comments that i have received through my simulated were too much grammatical errors, a very obvious hesitation in my utterances such as 'AAaaaaaaa',and i also got a comments on my classroom management. i did take all the comments that my friends gave me in a positive way, at least there's something lack in me that i can make an improvement to make sure i can become a better person in my future.for those who have put their effort and evalute me in my simulated teaching, thanks alot for the comments and hope all the comments that you have given me were a sincere comments based on my performanced!thanks dude...

how should i evaluate my friend's simulated teaching?

as for the simulated teaching, we have instructed to write a blog on how should we evaluate our friends' work on simulated teaching. for a few first evaluation, im still blur,confused and in doubt because me,myself not really sure with what should i make an evaluation on. i am totally forget about the guideline that miss baiti had given us. my friend had reminds me, i immediately refers to the guideline and feels like i have find the right track in evaluating my friends' work,thanks god!as for the evaluation form, we should evaluate in terms of how teacher makes a preparation of the activity,how they tackled the students' attention with the set induction, and how the runs the pre and while reading activity. the evaluation also consist of teachers' language and how they project their voice. we also have been given a chance to give grade to our friends based on their performance. so, this kind of activity can at least help me to put more focus on my friends' presentation.

set induction?induction setting?setting a set induction?

hurrmmmm...setting a set induction for a particular lesson,it is not an easy work to go!!!seriously...everytime i have to set for set induction,i will mess up m y life...for me,the starting of the lesson should be very interesting and able to catch student's attention......
as for my simulated teaching(for set induction), i have did it with my partner, nadia bt saizul. we have choose one of the Korean video as our set induction..the video is all about blindness that occur in a human life! before we start our simulated teaching, we did have a bit nervous and worry,because we afraid of ignorance among students....if they can't really get the message through the video and they can't see what we want to show them,means that we have failed!
but,fortunately for us because we have did our best and and students get the message that we try to expose to them through the video....some of them cried!hehehehe.....overall, i do think that, as a teacher, we have to take set induction as a serious matter,because how the lesson will goes on,depends on how the presentation of set induction,whether u are able to tackle sudents' attention or not........so, for those teachers out there,always be ready for your set induction......

Teiresias -
One of the interesting character in the play; Oedipus Rex is Teiresias. He is a blind prophet and servant of Apollo, twice was asked by Oedipus to come to the palace to discuss the crisis in Thebes.
In the first act of the play he finally appears, enlightening the reasons for the city’s destruction, knowledge that he is unwilling to reveal to Oedipus for fear of making him miserable. Oedipus, feeling himself to be betrayed by the prophet’s resistance, verbally abuses Teiresias by saying these words;

“You sightless, witless, senseless, mad old man!”

Oedipus also accuses him of working on behalf of the “usurper” Creon.
Reluctantly, Teiresias tells Oedipus that he should not mock him so quickly; in a famous moment of foreshadowing, he tells the king that it is he who is blind:

“But I say that you, with both your eyes, are blind:
You cannot see the wretchedness of your life,
Nor in whose house you live, no, nor with whom.”

Significantly, Teiresias is also the first character in the play to question Oedipus’s assumption that he knows his parentage and to tell him that he has committed killing that he does not yet know are his own. He tells Oedipus that he will become blind and poor, that Oedipus is himself Lauis’s murderer, and that he will learn that he has fathered children with his mother. While Teiresias’s presence on stage is brief, as a prophet representing the god Apollo he remains one of the most powerful characters in the play.
So, the character of Tiresias show the literal blindness of the soothsayer points to the blindness of those who refuse to believe the truth about themselves when they hear it spoken.

Oedipus... Oedipus... Oedipus...

Oedipus Rex by Sophocles is a tremendous story. As for the first time I received the booklet of the play, I was so excited to read through the text and explore what is the idea of the play. So, the night after I received the booklet, I try to read the play. The first line in the play has given me a headache! Gosh! I got nothing from my reading. But, I just keep reading, pretend that I understand and follow the plan, even though in fact, I didn’t get it!
After having tutorial classes, I have widened up my mind a little bit. At least I got the storyline. I know the development of the story. At least I know that Oedipus married with his own mother and killed his own father by his hand. But, a few discussions during tutorial, I think now I am totally got the play. For me, Oedipus Rex is a nice play, the story of how blindness of heart can damage somebody’s life. In this play, faith plays a big role.
Some people may not accept what has being written to him/ her by God and decide to escape himself/herself from reality. But, we just can plan our life, we can’t decide what will happen in our future.
I am on my way to admire this play (I hope so…). The message that Sophocles tried to convey in his play, bring meaning to people nowadays.

An ‘unknown’ play…

This time, I will make a reflection on one of the most exciting activity that being handled during lecture. I like to call this activity as ‘an unknown play’, because we have to act out the play that we don’t know how many characters are involved, where is the setting taking place and overall, we just know the language but not the content of the text. The text that we are required to read is one of the abstract, taken from ‘Now Read On’ and it is sort of short dialogue.
Our respective lecturer has divided us into pair or three in a group and asked us to read the text. He gave us sometimes. After that he told us that we have to act it out, create the situation for the dialogue based on our own creativity. My partner for this activity was Hazelynn. We have (me and Hazelynn) make a discussion and we have create our own situation. It was happened between husband and wife in the study room. But, unfortunately for us, because we don’t have the chance to perform our play, just keep it as a precious experience. I was so excited with this activity, because I was never expect that some of my course mates have a talent in acting. They are very talented and they have make the activity becomes very interesting. Besides, I was also interested with Dr Edwin’s experience with my seniors. They all were using the same text like us, but they managed to create situation which was totally out of my thinking. One of them acts out the dialogue, not as a human, but as a chicken. We have had a big laugh as we listen to the story.
So, I think the activity is not just entertaining, but informative as well.

Different perception towards stages of life…

The Four Ages of Man (William Butler Yeats)
He with body waged a fight,
But body won; it walks upright.
Then he struggled with the heart;
Innocent and peace depart.
Then he struggled with the mind;
His proud heart he left behind.
Now his wars on God begin;
At stroke of midnight God shall win

As in the lecture, we have discussed about one of the William Shakespeare’s famous poems ‘As You Like It’. The poem is mainly about the stages of life in Shakespeare’s point of view. Our instructor also asked us to have a look at other literary works and one of them is ‘The Four Ages of Man’ by William Butler Yeats. As for the first time read through the poem, I feel very annoying because I can’t able to understand the poem very well. I keep asking myself, why I should read this poem! But, after my third time of reading, finally I got the idea and connotative meaning from the text. Both of the authors, William Shakespeare and William Butler Yeats convey the same idea in their works but in the different perception. They use the same concept of stages of man’s life but they have their own perception towards the subject matter.
